Mosley Story

Stories and Testimonials

My husband and I had spoke of adoption briefly in our 16 year relationship but we never really thought we would have the opportunity. Our interest in adoption was sparked by the fact that our second time trying to have a child became difficult. We had been seeing a specialist and decided that we would go one last time to get his recommendations. Before we walked into the office I think we both knew what we would do. We weren’t interested in spending thousands of dollars on shots and IVF procedures, we wanted a surefire way of adding to our family.

So, when we were told that we could try to use more aggressive measures to get pregnant we both knew that the little seed of adoption that God had planted was starting to grow. As we left the doctors office that day we just looked at each other and my husband said “well looks like we are going to China!”

That’s all it took. We started paper chasing in July of 2004 and our sweet girl was placed in our arms Halloween day of 2005. She was so small and looked at us as if she had known us all along. She bonded to us equally well as we did to her. Our trip to China was fabulous we enjoyed every minute of the time we had together there in her birth country.

Our experience was such a blessing in our lives. Not only through our new baby girl but we met an entire network of new friends that have enriched our lives. We found God in ways we had never seen Him before. We felt His presence as we waited for our child. And ultimately we have seen him now in the eyes of our daughter. Founding Family awarded us a grant which help with a portion of the expenses, some friends and family paid for our airfare to China and we scraped just about every dollar we had available together.

We came home from China to a bare bones bank account but in return we have received abundant joy. Sometimes I think God would like to see what choice you would make - to trust in him and reap the reward or just forget the idea of adoption altogether because it’s financially scary. Every time I hear my son giggling with our daughter as he chases her through the house I am so grateful God chose us for this experience. The birth of a child into your family through biological means or through adoption is equally rewarding.

Thank you FFCF for helping us make our dream a reality!
